T he O'Sullivan brothers sit at a booth with their security lounging at the bar. In the dimly lit restaurant, their smiles look iridescent. I don't have a good feeling about this.

Connor is the first to rise and he opens his arms amiably to usher me into a hug. "You're getting married, mate!"

I can taste the artificial sugar in his congratulations and I force myself to keep my face from souring when I look at his open arms. The twins are forty, a mere three years older than me, and both have conspired to see me dead and buried. Why would they want to embrace me now? "Thanks. Can I help you, gentlemen? I was at my rehearsal dinner when I received your summons."

Oliver pats the leather booth and gestures for me to sit down beside him. "I don't bite, Enzo. Unless you're into that sort of thing," he says with a wink. Rumors about Oliver have spread far and wide through the underworld. I've heard he's gay, pansexual, and even once fucked a tree.

Frankly, I don't care who or what he's into, I just want to get this over with. "I repeat, can I help you?" I take a seat nonetheless, sitting on the edge of the booth in case either of these two idiots tries something. There are about ten patrons scattered around the bar, but I wouldn't put it past either of them. Matteo stands beside me, hands clasped in front of him and a menacing look on his face. My set of bodyguards stand at the front and back of Herbs & Rye. If either of these two jack-offs thinks tonight is the night to get one over on me, they'll be looking down the muzzle of a gun.

Connor leans into his brother and bumps his shoulder affectionately.

"You think we should tell him?" He asks tauntingly.

Oliver grins and bumps his brother back. "I don't know, Con. You think he'll thank us?" They've got an inside joke and they're teasing me with it.

But all I want to do is go to bed. I don't have time for their shit, nor do I want to engage them in whatever little game this is. "Someone better tell me why you called me here before I get angry." The brothers exchange another playful glance before one of them tells me that Brayden Flynn is dead.

Brayden Flynn has been a mutual enemy of the O'Sullivan and Vitale families since the day he arrived. He showed up in Vegas four years ago and sent his men to take over our businesses or raid them, whichever was easier, and it was always easier to raid a business and break a few kneecaps.

To the O'Sullivan's credit, they managed to ferret Brayden out of hiding once. They dangled a teenage girl in front of him and he came out of his hidey-hole erect and ready for a good time. Unfortunately, instead of solidifying a truce, they made a deal with Brayden and he was free to go.
